Designing Good Games

1. GM Tutorial - Designing Games - Read pages 1 -11 (up to “Presence & Immersion”).
You will want to refer to this handout for the remainder of the course. This tutorial does a great job of defining the components of a computer game and what designers should consider when they develop a game. This will serve as the foundation for our game design decisions for the rest of the course.

2. Designing Good Games PowerPoint (slides 1-4)
Think about your favorite games and how they follow these “good game” concepts (Call of Duty, Madden’s Football, Angry Birds, etc.).
Class discussion.
