What is a Scavenger Hunt?
• A scavenger hunt provides students with a list of questions and a hypertext link to URLs that will answer each question. Students must use the Internet to find the answers to questions.
Why Use Scavenger Hunts?
• When using scavenger hunts, students discover important facts and concepts.
• Scavenger hunts allow teachers to compose thoughtful questions to help students learn about a subject by going to a specified Web site to find the information.
• Scavenger hunts allow students to learn academic concepts while they develop Internet navigation skills.
Steps to Follow in Creating Scavenger Hunts:
• The first step is to identify an idea/concept that you would like to reinforce or introduce.
• Research the topic using a search engine and search for web sites that reinforce/introduce the concept.
• Develop questions that may be answered at each site. Be sure to keep track of site name, URL,description and question.
