Communication is vital when working to make a difference, create positive impact, and in all areas of life. Through my internship with Growing Places Indy (GPI), I feel that I mastered this learning outcome. I understand now just how important ommunication is in philanthropy. One can only gather strength to fulfill a mission with the help of others and the only way to do so is to communicate clearly. At GPI, I was in charge of a fundraising event and had to communicate with my fellow team members, supervisors, and the public in order to plan and execute a successful event. Each week, we met different nonprofit leaders and discussed ideas on nonprofit efforts, philanthropy, community, and civil society. My Urban Gardening Proposal shows my ability to communicate effectively. I completed research and composed a thorough plan for implementation of gardening efforts at the local hospital. I plan to present this to the Director of Development for the foundation at the hospital.
