History of the organization

The company I initially began interning for was Crimson Tide Hospitality, a branch of the Colonnade Group. The Colonnade Group was founded by Robbie Robertson in 1991 and over the years became a national leader in entertainment and sports production.  At the end of 2020, Teall Capital, a private equity firm based in South Carolina, announced the formation of a new company called RevelXP.  Teall Capital acquired Colonnade Group, to integrate with a few other companies Teall already accumulated, to form RevelXP with the mission to re-imagine the gameday and non-gameday experience.

Challenges facing the organizations

As a new company trying to merge and rebrand, I can see a challenge in name association.  Colonnade had many years under its belt and the name was recognizable in the collegiate athletics.  I think RevelXP will have to build up to that kind of esteem.

REVELXP will help partner schools, teams and leagues off-set staff reductions, drive meaningful revenue and strategically plan for the future.

Long-term plans for the organization

I believe RevelXP plans to continue its expansion.  It went from overseeing 6 properties in 2018 to 10 times that by 2021.  I don’t see the company limiting itself to 60 properties.  I believe if they can keep bringing in new companies or merging further, then they will continue to do so.  In the long run, I see this as an advantage for me.  I’ll grow a broader network and the company I’ll have experience with will hopefully be a well-known name in the industry.
