Resources for the student intern

1. What are my responsibilities as an administrative intern?

B. Review professional expectations and standards.

C. If you need to change your Site or Mentor.

If your mentor or site changes during your internship, you must obtain a new administrative internship site approval. Please contact your assigned Education Program Specialist Lisa Caron for Site approval paperwork that you will need to fill out and send in for site/mentor approval.  The internship site and mentor must meet the following requirements:

Site Requirements

  • Accredited P-12 institution
  • Student population of 150+

Mentor Requirements

  • Masters Degree
  • Current administrator certification
  • 3+ years of experience as an administrator

D. Submit Site Approval Application and required documents.

To apply for site approval, submit the site approval documents to Lisa Caron, the assigned Education Program Specialist:

Please be advised that your administrative internship cannot begin until your site and mentor are approved by the University. Your Education Program Specialist will notify you once your site and mentor are approved.

2. What is the recommended schedule for the administrative internship?

 

 Administrative Interns must complete a total of 240 internship hours during the administrative internship. Students may begin accruing hours upon university site approval. Students should complete approximately 120 hours upon beginning the second internship seminar course (Seminar B). Students must have 240 hours completed prior to beginning the final internship seminar course (Seminar C). Please make note, that certain states may require additional intern learning hours. Please contact your assigned Education Program Specialist for additional information.

Version 20 students please read your handbook carefully as hours need to be accompanied by specialized projects (Two completed at Midterm and another two by Final).
