Herein you will find links to three Google documents I created for ESPY 5198 (New Literacies). The first link will bring you to a write up of an online reading comprehension assessment that I created and gave to a group of five eighth grade students. The second link will bring you to a unit of study I created using information I gained from the online reading comprehension assessment to drive my decisions. This unit will be the first unit I teach in the 2011 - 2012 school year to set the ground work for the year. Finally, the third link will bring you to a short write up about the online social networking service "Edmodo" in addition to a video walk through designed to help fellow teachers learn how to use the service and implement it with their classes to engage the students in meaningful socially mediated learning in addition to fostering greater home/school connections.

ISTE.NETS Performance Standards

Performance standards addressed in this section include:

 Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments (creation of the online reading assessment and the unit of study) 

 

I designed, developed, and evaluated authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S.
