Looking Ahead
ICCI has grown tremendously as an organization and community center in the past 5 years. Limited space has resulted as more and more students enroll in the institution every year. Oftentimes, the organization finds itself having to decline and wait list admission of many students and families simply because there is not enough space. Expansion of the school itself has been a goal of the organization for some time now; their fundraising dinners in the past couple of years have been geared toward the expansion project. In addition to this, ICCI hopes to expand by working directly with more non-profit organizations throughout the Chicagoland area to lead more volunteer campaigns that help those less fortunate. For example, ICCI has worked with a variety of health groups in the past to collaborate and send volunteers from their respective institutions to a number of different fields. This includes reading to the blind, volunteering at soup kitchens, and assisting the disabled in nursing homes.
Furthermore, ICCI hopes to develop more outreach programs. This includes developing a youth center and through this, working with other Muslim communities in the area. This institution would ideally be led by a counselor or religious leader that can aid adolescent Muslim youth with the various challenges they face on a daily basis: from problems at school to personal issues at home. The goal of this project is to keep teenagers grounded as Islamic individuals despite all the animosity and challenges they may face as Muslim youth. Though ICCI has many great ideas to expand and grow further as an Islamic institution, many of these resources require consistent community support through funding, commitment, and dedication.
