The purpose of this Toolbox is to demonstrate knowledge of how to educate learners with Emotional Behavioral Disorders so that students are serviced in the most appropriate way while remaining in compliance with what the laws have set forth in IDEA 2004.The charts that are available for viewing reflect knowledge of what a teacher can do to better educate a student with a Emotional Behavioral Disorders, assessments that may be appropriate, as well as information of how to manage behavior so that the classroom is a safe environment.

This assignment shows mastery of the Arizona’S Professional Teaching Standard 1,2, and 3 which require the teacher to demonstrate current professional knowledge sufficient to designs and plans instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and the district's assessment plan by focusing instruction on the school's and district's academic standards, creating and maintaining a learning climate that supports the development of students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards by encouraging the student to demonstrate self-discipline and responsibility to self and others, and implementing and managing instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards by appropriately implementing a teacher-designed lesson plan.

The special education teacher participates in the design, implementation, and assessment of individualized education programs in order to develop a student’S abilities, which is imperative in the high school setting. In order to achieve this, the special education teacher needs to be knowledgeable of Emotional and Behavioral disabilities, available assessment and placement options for recommendation to the IEP team, as well as what teaching methods may work for the different needs of students. This toolbox is one method to achieve the mastery of Arizona’S Professional Teaching Standard 1, 2, and 3.

AZ- Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards
Standard 1: The teacher designs and plans instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and the district's assessment plan.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher?s planning:
Assessed performance 2: Focuses instruction on the school's and district's academic standards
Standard 2: The teacher creates and maintains a learning climate that supports the development of students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 3: Encourages the student to demonstrate self-discipline and responsibility to self and others
Standard 3: The teacher implements and manages instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standardsThe performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate knowledge of how to educate learners with Emotional Behavioral Disorders so that students are serviced in the most appropriate way while remaining in compliance with what the laws have set forth in IDEA 2004.

This assignment shows mastery of the Arizona’S Professional Teaching Standard 4:2, 5:2, and 8:5 which require the teacher to assess learning and communicate results to students, parents and other professionals with respect to students'abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards. The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher uses a variety of appropriate formal and informal assessments aligned with instruction. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, parents, the community and other agencies to design, implement, and support learning programs that develop students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and transition from school to work or post-secondary education. The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher collaborates with other professionals and agencies to improve the overall learning environment for students. The teacher demonstrates current professional knowledge sufficient to effectively design and plan instruction, implement and manage instruction, create and maintain an appropriate learning environment, and assess student learning. The professional knowledge assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher has knowledge of Methods for recognizing and accommodating exceptional children.
