My short story on the Center Street Bridge

In the city of Cleveland there is a bridge. The bridges name is Center Street. This bridge was helpful in Cleveland and it let everybody get to one place to the other. It was set over the Cuyahoga River. It is a swing truss bridge that not only help cars, but it was useful to the boats as well because the bridge would swing so that they can pass downstream. One day the bridge had fallen into the river and the Mayor heard about it. Frank Jackson (the mayor), had called the bridge company to tell them what happened to their bridge. George Lopez (the boss of the bridge company) had told the mayor that he would send two of his best guys to Cleveland so they can rehabilitate the bridge. The mayor thanked him and told him that he would leave the rest to him. After the phone call that George Lopez had with the mayor, he went into his own office to make him two phone calls. “Hey Bob I have a request that you might want to do, can you come to Cleveland and fix up the bridge that fallen down into the river.” said George. “I sure can and I’ll get right on it” said Bob. “I would send another guy down there to help you work on the bridge” said George. “What guy are you sending?” Bob had asked. “You will see when you get down there” George had told him.

In his mind Bob was hoping that the person the boss would send would not be Washington Roebling. Roebling and Bob have had a lot of conflicts on who was better at designing and building bridges before. In the past Bob had built the Golden Gate Bridge and Washington had built the Brooklyn Bridge. They were fighting till this day on what bridge was better and how it was better.

George had hung up the phone and called Washington Roebling. “Roe can you go downtown to rehabilitate a bridge that had fell into the Cuyahoga River?” said George. “Sure, and did the Center Street Bridge fall?” asked Washington. “Yep and I need you to go fix it. Oh, and one more thing I would be sending another guy down with you so you can work on the bridge together” said George. “Who are you sending?” asked Roebling. “You’ll see when you get down there” said Mr. Lopez.

Washington was hoping that the person George would send would be Bob the Builder. He wanted Bob because he would like to start another fight on a bridge design with him. He knows that Bob would get in a fight with him because he has a low temper.

George had made another phone call, and this one was someone outside of the company. He had called a private investigator; the private investigator name was Sherlock Holmes. George had called him because he wanted Sherlock to tell him how Roebling and Bob would do working together. They had set up a meeting and Sherlock said that he would help George out and tell him how the two designers would behave.

A week had pasted Bob and Roebling had gone downtown to start the construction. Once Bob seen Roebling step out a car he thought about leaving but he then remembered that the boss was counting on him and that he would try to work with him. Roebling was happy to see Bob and went up to him to start a fight. “Don’t you remember how I completed the famous Brooklyn bridge and how it was more superior to yours?” said Washington. Bob ignored the question and told him that he just wanted to get the work done. After a several minutes they had started on building the bridge. The private investigator was in a good place to hide, take notes, and take pictures. While working on the bridge there was total silence until. “Hey Bob you know you doing it wrong. This is where it should go, only a real designer would know” said Roebling. Bob had told himself in his mind that if Washington says one more thing to him he would have a competition with him. “Isn’t it a shame that George thinks you is one of his best workers? I mean I know I am, but you aren’t really a competition against me” Roebling told Bob. “You know what I have had it if I care (which I don’t) you can fix the rest of this bridge by yourself. I’m leaving” said Bob.

Bob started to leave because he was tired of Washington trying to talk about something that can be left alone. The private investigator called George to tell him what happened and that Bob was leaving. “You know what I’ll do, I’ll make a due date to make both of them work together” said George. He thanked Sherlock for the information and hung up the phone. He then called Bob and told him something. “Hey Bob I just remembered, I need you and Roebling to finish the bridge by January 3rd. So can you tell him what I said and I hope you two finish in time” George told Bob.

Bob had to go back to the site to give Washington the news on what the boss told him they had to do. “Listen here, the boss called me and told me that he need the bridge done on January 3rd. That is tomorrow, now I need you to set aside your little arguments for now or until we finish the bridge ok” said Bob. Washington was somewhat happy that Bob actually set him straight on the situation and told him that he can handle it for the bridge.

It took at least a few hours until they were done with the bridge. Bob and Washington got the credit together and were happy on what they could accomplish if they work together. Sherlock Holmes told George Lopez everything that happened and he thanked George for letting him use his services.

The End
