IUPUI Top 100

I was honored to be named one of the top 100 junior/senior students at IUPUI for 2016. I am pictured to the right with Chancellor Paydar at the Alumni Relations sponsored ceremony.

Hal Tobin Award

This monetary award is presented annually to the undergraduate student who submits the best essay written in either W131 Elementary Composition I or W140 Elementary Composition I-Honors. I was honored to win in 2015 for my essay entitled "The Principles of Realspeak." The essay was a frank editorial on political correctness mania that I argue can impede making authentic connections with others. I was told that this was the best essay that has been entered in the contest in years. That was a very humbling experience for me.

Student Employee Team of the Year

Email correspondence from LHSI Director Brandi Gilbert, "I’m happy to share with you that this afternoon the LHSI ambassador team won the 2016 Student Employee Team of the Year award as part of the National Student Employee Appreciation Week celebration at IUPUI. The ambassadors have made many invaluable contributions to our program and are highly deserving of this award. Please join me in congratulating Macy Ballard, Kyle McElyea, Elena Peters, and Kamilah Walters. It’s an honor to work with you!"

Scholarships

I feel very blessed to be a Bepko scholar at IUPUI. I have also been the recipient of the Dean’s scholarship from the Purdue School of Science. For my study abroad experience last summer, I was fortunate to receive a regional scholarship. Finally, I have qualified for both the Dean's Lists and the Scholar's Lists through the Purdue School of Science at IUPUI.
