Welcome to Downey High School!

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

            Welcome to my website and thanks for stopping by!  To introduce myself, my name is Ms. Barbeau and I have lived in Downey all of my life, attending Alameda, South (now Sussman) and Downey High.  As a former Downey Viking, I can attest to this being a great school and look forward to doing my part to make it even better!  I also graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in math. 

            My goal is to get each student thinking to their highest capacity, develop their note-taking and study skills, and to get them interested in math.  I am willing to dedicate extra time to help any students who may be struggling, as long as they have a determination to succeed!  My favorite quote this year is "Bloom where you are planted!" and I hope that all of my students learn to use what they were given to flourish, whether it is in math class or their life outside of school. 

Class rules will be posted at all times in the classroom and students will be explained what is to be expected of them.  Consequences for unacceptable behavior are:

1. Verbal warning about behavior
2. Two-minute conference between student and teacher after class
3. Detention with parent notification/Possible removal from classroom
4. Referral
