Homework (20% of Grade)
Homework will generally be assigned every night and will include follow-up exercises from class activities/lectures that give students the opportunity to practice the standards they are to master. Late work will not be accepted unless a student has an excused absence. It is the student’s responsibility to come in for help and to ask about any assignments they may have missed the day they return to class! Students will be able to get help on assignments from the teacher before and after school.
Quizzes (15% of Grade) / Tests (35% of Grade)
Students should expect to be quizzed on the material they are learning approximately once a week. They should expect to be tested once or twice per chapter. It is the student’s responsibility to make up a quiz or test if they have been absent. The teacher can refuse to allow a student to make up a quiz/test if more than a week has lapsed since the student’s absence.
Warm-Up (7% of Grade)
Daily warm-ups will involve a written response to a prompt on the board. Students may be asked to discuss the application of Calculus to a real world situation, explain how to solve a particular kind of problem, etc. Warm-ups will be used to fuel discussion in class, and will be collected daily.
Projects (8% of Grade) / Final (10% of Grade) / Participation (5% of Grade)
Students will be given a variety of projects to complete at home and in the classroom that will help them apply the Calculus concepts they learn to real life. At the end of each semester, students will be given a comprehensive exam of all material learned that semester.
