Conducting the interviews with the clients at Taller José was such a heart-warming experience. Being able to work with people and not behind a desk brings the personal and human experince that you cannot get any other way. Human interaction is essential for us to be able to understand eachother. During many of our interviews, many of the clients got emotional when talking about their hardships and I think that is part of the beauty in community-based reasearch, because the experience is real and unique to every person involved. The fellows were the researchers in the project, however, the ones that bring value to our work are the community members themselves. It was nice to hear from some of the clients that even though we couldn't necessarily help them with ther problems, the simple fact of being there and listening to their stories made them feel better.
