About Me

Quick Description

My name is Iliana Barragan. I am a senior at Loyola University Chicago majoring in Psychology and minoring in Social Work. Considering that I have a special interest in the social sciences, learning about people is one of the many things I love. I very much enjoy being around/working with children, since I've lived around them my whole life. Children are creative beings filled with limitless imaginations, which is why I have so much respect for them. I grew up in the southside of Chicago, unfortunately, community violence is very prevalent. I want to help empower the people in my community and fight for social justice. I am so grateful to have been able to further my education as it will help prepare me intellectually and professionally to better serve my community.

My Story

Just like the fellows wrote narratives for the clients of Taller de José, they also wrote their own personal stories both in English and Spanish.  Here I have my personal narratives.
