The Scientific Method & Metrics
OBJECTIVES:
Things you will know: The 6 steps of the Scientific Method
These are the 6 steps that the Science Department at AFJH would like you to know and use:
1- Ask the Question or State the Problem
2- Research (helps you become ‘educated’ so you can do step 3)
3- Hypothesis (that’s the ‘educated’ guess you did your research for)
4- Experiment AND Record Data (if you don’t record it while you experiment you may leave out something important that made all the difference)
5- Analyze the Data (what does all that data mean anyway)
6- Conclusion – This is either going to support your hypothesis or NOT support it. If it does, give yourself a high five, if not, go back to step 2 and revise.
Metric Units of Measurement:
You will learn the Units of measurement for Length, Volume, Mass/Weight and Density
You will know the meaning of prefixes used in Metrics
You will know the equations for determining the volume of a regular (flat sided) object and how to find volume of an irregular object
You will know the equation for Density
Terminology:
lenght, mass, volume, weight, density
meter, liter, gram
variables, independent, dependent, manipulated, control
Things you will be able to do:
