Heidi Bennett’s ANNOTATION for Media Project # 10

a) Creators/Authors of the Media Project.

Heidi Bennett, Michelle Haygard, and Heather Clark.

b) Identified Grade Level(s)

This activity and demonstration would be for fourth graders.

c) Subject matter: Does integration of subject matters take place? What is (are) the subject matter(s)?

Yes different types of subject matter occurred throughout the Smart board activity. There was use of math skills by adding the numbers on both of the dice. They also had to use specific letters they rolled to come up with a word that is the same number that was on the dice. This uses math problem solving skills, combined with English vocabulary words.

d) List one or two goals/objectives for this project.

The goal of this project was for my peers to participate in the activity that my group and I created. We showed them a step by step of how they could do the same activity on their own outside of the classroom.  Our goal was to show the class how you can incorporate more than one subject in an activity using Smart boards. There are many different resources you can use on a Smart board to incorporate any type of subject matter you desire.

e) In what ways do you foresee could this project facilitate kids learning in your classroom? Will this media project encourage use of problem solving skills by the learner? If so, in what ways?

The Smart board activity I used definitely encouraged students to use problem solving skills by having them think of a word. The word consists of a specific number of letters that they rolled, and two specific letters they rolled that can be used to create the word. They have to think of a word using the two letters, and then count out and see if the word fits. This is great way for them to review vocabulary words, and practice their counting skills.

f) The link to the product (s) (eg. the URL for VoiceThread or the URL for iMovie on YouTube) if any.

I uploaded the SMARTboard project in .notebook and .pdf formats.

g) What kind of file (.docx, .pdf, .wmv, .mp3, .m4v ... ) is the product? What plug-in is needed to view the product and where to download the plug in?

The project used the Smartboard in the Technology classroom. The product is a .notebook and .pdf format.
