Photo Essay Rationale

Artifact: A Photo Essay developed to peek the interest of under represented students.

Context: I developed this Photo Essay for CI 4401 under the advisement of Jeff Goodman during Block II of my major in Elementary Education.

Impact: As a future teacher, I will use this Photo Essay to peek the interest of children who aren't exposed to Science at home. This project will show children that Science is everywhere. The Photo Essay can be easily adapted to grades 2-6. One can also fit the project into different subject areas such as Math and Language Arts.

Alignment: This Photo Essay assignment satisfies the requirements for the North Carolina Elementary School Teachers by the following:

Standard 15: I met this standard by developing a Power Point which asked scientific questions of things seen in the real-world. Students are able to draw conclusions and investigate the different pictures of the Power Point.

Indicator 1: I met this indicator by developing a Power Point which shows pictures of different things in the world around us. Each picture asks different scientific questions about each object. This provides under represented students a way of seeing how Science is everywhere.
