Practicum 

     For practicum, I worked at Glen Alpine Elementary in Burke County, North Carolina.  I worked with Mr. Tanner and his 3rd grade class.  I really enjoyed my time there.  My practicum partner was Lila Downs. I learned a great deal from my experiences with the class.  I worked in the classroom from 8:30 until 2:00 on October 24th and 31st and Novemer 7th, 14th, 19th, 26th, and 28th. 

    While working in Mr. Tanner's room I developed several lesson plans that I was allowed to teach to the students.  I taught Math lessons on skip counting by eight and one on line graphs.  I also taught a guided reading lesson on the storybook Rocks in His Head.  I taught a word lesson on prefixes to the whole class. I gave several mini-lessons to small groups.  I also lead group discussions with several of the different level reading groups.  I was also responsible daily, for walking around and making sure that each student understood the worksheets they were responsible for.  I attended to any student that needed my assistance while I was there.  The experience was very enlightening.  It really showed me what it was like to be a teacher.
