Moon Journal Rationale
Context: I developed this moon journal during Block II of my senior year at Appalachian State University, under the advisement of Dr. Jeff Goodman.
Impact: This artifact shows the importance of keeping a moon journal for my future students. Students will see how many different phases the moon goes through during the 29 day cycle. This will give students a better understanding of the phases of the moon.
Alignment: The following standards help to satisfy the requirements for North Carolina Elementary School Teachers.
Standard 2: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in mathematics.
Indicator 2: I met this indicator by developing a moon journal that shows my understanding of perimeter and geometric figures. The journal shows the relative position and relationship of the moon to earth.
Standard 3: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in science.
Indicator 3: I met this indicator by developing a moon journal that has further developed my knowledge of astronomy.
