Lab Safety Survey
Rationale:
Context: I developed this safety survey during Block II of my senior year at Appalachian State University, under the advisement of Dr. Jeff Goodman.
Impact: This safety survey answers important safety questions that all school staff should be aware of. It is important for me to know these areas of safety so that I may keep my own future classroom safe and compliable with state laws and regulations.
Alignment: The following standards help to satisfy the requirements for North Carolina Elementary School Teachers.
Standard 17: Elementary teachers understand safety and liability issues in elementary and advocate for appropriate safety materials and enforcement practices in the classroom.
Indicator 1: I met this indicator by explaining to students the importance of being safe while conducting experiments and also showing students where safety equipment is located in the classroom and at school.
Indicator 2: I met this indicator by investigating the measures taken for safety within the school and classroom.
Indicator 3: I met this indicator by complying with the safety laws and codes of the state and school.
Indicator 4: I met this indicator by modeling good safety behavior in front of my students.
Indicator 5: I met this indicator by addressing other safety areas and looking for other areas of improvement for my own future classroom.
