Mementos

Me and the other international ladies on our trip! This photo was taken at an onsen (hot spring) hotel in Shiobara, Tochigi. This was a trip for the orientation for freshman students of Hakuoh University. I was so glad to be a part of that experience. It was my first time at an onsen, which was a little odd at first considering you have to be undressed in a room with a lot of other women. I got used to it farely quickly and just enjoyed the relaxing water. I was able to wear a hotel yukata for the first time. I've always wanted to try more traditional style Japanese clothing, so I was so excited. Possibly more than the other girls... The rooms had amazing views of the river and town outside, traditional tatami floors, and futon beds. We had a buffet style dinner and breakfast. There was a nice gift shop downstairs for us to peruse with many goodies. Unfortunately, with preparations and talking to friends I didn't have time to purchase anything. Even the bus ride to and from was great. We passed through some beautiful mountains and passed some rivers. It really was a great two days to remember.
