Clothing Guidelines for the Upcoming Winter season:

At this time of year, we are often questioned as to how we determine when students are to go outdoors for recess and when they are kept indoors.  We keep them indoors when the temperature is 20 degrees or below, taking into account the wind chill factor.  We also do not allow an outdoor recess when it is raining, however we often let them go out when it is snowing.

We are asking that you send your child prepared for the weather.  The following guidelines have been established.  They change to allow for the increased decision-making and independence of the older students.

Readiness, Grades 1 & 2

Hats, coats and gloves/mittens are required.

Boots and snow pants required after the first snow and until no longer appropriate to wear them.

Grades 3 & 4

Coats and gloves are required.

Boots and snow pants required after the first snow.

*Hats are optional.

Grades 5 & 6 & 7

Coats are required.

Boots required after the first snow.

*Hats, gloves and waterproof pants are optional.

*Full winter dress is required for students to be in snow-covered areas.
