  1. CLE Task Journal-Read Aloud CLE Task Journal-Read Aloud
This journal demonstrates my ability to actively and effectively engage learners. By describing a series of read alouds that I did it becomes apparent the tools and strategies I used to engage the students. Reading a book aloud to the class and asking questions to go along helps to keep student active and engaged.
  2. Read Aloud Picture Read Aloud Picture
This pictures shows me reading alound to the whole class. When reading aloud, it is important to make sure all students are actively engaged. I keep them engaged and focused by varying the level of my voice and the pace of my speech. I check for engagement by constantly scanning over the students, looking for signs of active processing.
  3. Reflection Journal-Electricity Lesson Reflection Journal-Electricity Lesson
The highlighted section of this journal describes the engagement level of my students during a science lesson. This demonstrates me ability to design lessons that actively engage all learners.
  4. Whole group science class picture Whole group science class picture
This picture shows me teaching a science concept, circuits, to the whole class on the back carpet. This depicts my ability to actively and effectively engage all learners. I call on various students for participation and ask for several explanations during these whole group science talks.

B2. Monitoring and assessing student learning

The teacher assesses student learning in multiple ways in order to monitor student learning, assist students in understanding their progress, and report student progress.

File Attachments:
  1. Assessment section of lesson plans Assessment section of lesson plans
These assessment procedures from two different lesson plans shows my ability to assess student learning in different ways according to subject area. These two sections also explain how I monitor student progress and assist students in their own understanding by circulating around the room and prompting.
  2. Case Study Case Study
This case study demonstrates the requirements for this section because I had to observe, plan an intervention and assess and report student progress in this paper.
  3. Math grid sheet Math grid sheet
This is a grid sheet that I use to keep track of students' grades on math homework. It allows me to track student progress and also understand where they stand in their thought process.
  4. Word Study homework Word Study homework
This is an example of word study homework that is graded each week. I grade the students on their ability to complete the assignment correctly with correct spelling and grammar. These are given back to students with the grade so that they can monitor their own progess and know how they are doing. This shows my ability to monitor and report student progess.

Domain B Reflection

Through the implementation of numerous lessons this semester, I am able to actively encourage student development and learning. By teaching lessons in a sequence and completing tasks for my CLE journals (last semester), I have learned how to create a positive classroom environment as well as how to encourage student learning. With increased planning and instruction, I was able to follow through with more assessment strategies as well as effectively manage student behavior and classroom procedures. Also, I have been able to use more non-verbal cues to monitor and control student behavior as I began taking on a more prominent role in the classroom. These things will develop even more as I begin my professional teaching career.
