I enjoyed meeting all the parents who were able to attend our Back to School night. I hope to meet the rest of you soon.
One of the topics that we discussed was homework. There will always be homework Monday through Friday. There are certain assignments that are weekly; these are the Reading Log and the Reading Fluency Log. Also, every week we have homework based around the vocabulary of the story we are reading that week. These homework activities are always the same, week in and week out. Most weeks , a Poem of the Week is assigned. Every night it should be copied and practiced; on Friday each student recites the poem from memory.
There will frequently be other assignments given; these are usually due the next day. From time to time, there will be long term projects assigned that will given due dates several weeks from the date assigned. These projects need to be worked on through out the time assigned.
Occasionally, events happen that make it impossible for your child to complete their assigned homework. I will excuse an occasional missed assignment if I receive a parent's note for it to be excused.
