Mr. Jon L. Callahan's Web Page

Let me introduce myself. My name is Jon Leonard Callahan, not to be confused with Jon Paul Callahan, my son, who also teaches in the Theology Department. This can be confusing. Some refer to me as Senior and Jon Paul as Junior.

I have been involved with the Catholic Church a long time. I have a BA in Philosophy from St. John's Seminary College, Camarillo, California and a MA in Theology from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, California. I did sacramental preparation at St. Augustine Cathedral, here in Tucson, for 5 years and ran the Religious Education Program at St. Ambrose Parish(Tucson) for 7 years and at Sacred Heart Parish(Tucson) for a year. I taught here at Salpointe in the Theology Department for 12 years, before retiring in 2010. I am very glad to be back teaching the Confirmation Class and working in Campus ministry.

I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Lupita,  and four children, and now, eleven grand children, all of whom are here in Tucson. My four children (Alex, Jon Paul, Lorna and Theresa) all went through St. Ambrose Catholic Grade School and all graduated from Salpointe. All have B.A's and three now have master degrees. All of the  grand children, except the youngest, who is not yet in school, attend Catholic grade schools. We believe in a Catholic Education. St. Thomas Moore Newman Center, at the University of Arizona, is our home parish.

I love my Catholic Faith and consider it an honor to be allowed to be a part of your child's education in the faith. I feel that you, the parents, are the primary teachers of your child and I wish to support you in this awhsome responsibility in any way I can. Feel free to call me here at Salpointe (3276581, ext. 6025) or contact me via E-mail at jlcallahan@salpointe.org.
