Kappa Delta Pi Technology Showcase

Kappa Delta Pi Technology Events

Rider University's Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, and the School of Education Dean’s Office will co-sponsor two technology workshops in November.  Our aim is to bring cutting edge technology to the Rider University community.  While these workshops will be especially appealing to education majors, the content will appeal to all members of the campus community.

The first workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 17th in Sweigart 115 at 4:30 p.m.  New York University Professor Craig Kapp wil conduct a session on creating Virtual Pop-up Books using ZooBurst (www.zooburst.com).  ZooBurst is a digital storytelling tool that lets anyone easily create his or her own 3D pop-up books. Using ZooBurst, storytellers of any age can create their own rich worlds in which their stories can come to life. This new, innovative storytelling tool is sweeping the nation!  A social will be held following the presentation so that guests can meet Kapp and discuss this fascinating use of technology, which is called Augmented Reality.  Refreshments and a light snack will be served.

The following evening, Thursday, November 18th, Rider University's own Professor Suzanne Carbonaro will give a presentation on incorporating SmartBoard, podcasting, and blogging into our ePortfolios. The event will be held at 5:15 p.m. in SCI 201.  Professor Carbonaro will discuss the use of e-portfolios in interviewing for a job.  She will share the successes of several students who used their ePortfolios in obtaining jobs over the summer.

We hope to see you at these innovative and informative workshops. KDP members will receive credit for attending at least one event (although we encourage your attendance at both). Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the KDP Presidents, either Laura Meyers (meyersl@rider.edu) or Dana Nissen (nissend@rider.edu).
