Artifact 25 - I.d. how CTE Adv. Council or others were involved in program implementation

The Fairfax County Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Council and the Fairfax County Public Schools Department of Human Resources combined during the 2005-2006 school year to encourage the expansion of the Teacher Cadet Program.  Their goal was to attract some of the best and brightest students to explore careers in education and experience an internship.

A notice was sent to high school principals and family and consumer sciences teachers to promote the program.  They were recruiting teachers to take the state three-day training required to offer the program.

My principal and I responded, and I completed the training that spring.  The course was offered for the first time during the 2006-2007 school year and has continued since.  My training with the South Carolina Teacher Cadet Curriculum has been updated twice.
