Indicator 11c

11c. The program solicits learner feedback to improve the program.

Artifact 82 - explain how feedback from students/graduates is attained & used for prog. improvement

Students give formal feedback when they complete an anonymous questionnaire in May.  See attachment.  At the same time a spreadsheet with contact information is created for both the county Department of Human Resources and the classroom file.  The Department of Human Resources contacts former Teacher Cadets when they visit college campuses.  I contact graduates the December after they graduate to wish them good luck on their final exams and to invite them back to speak to my class when they come home for Winter Break.

In addition, FEA traditionally has a Holiday Reunion for recent graduates two days before our Winter Break begins.  This is a time for students to talk informally about the first semester of college while sharing cookies and punch.

Comments from former students are invaluable to both validate the program successes and identify activities and strategies that should be kept, modified or eliminated.  Over time, student feedback is used to continue to meet the needs current students.

The assignments/projects that have been validated as valuable include:

  • career unit
  • portfolio
  • ePortfolio
  • lesson planning
  • MovieMaker
  • internship experience - many classmates have had no real-world experience.
