The Mount Vernon Career and Technical Education (CT) Department, especially the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teachers, provide ongoing observations and assessments about the program.  This feedback occurs during formal meetings and informal conversations. 

The Director of Student Services, Career Center Specialist, and guidance counselors have:

• spoken to the class
• visited the classroom
• been very supportive of the program. 

In addition, the principal and assistant principal who oversee the CTE Department have:

• been extremely supportive of the program
• been guest speakers
• observed in the classroom
• visited students at their internship sites.

Mount Vernon High School believes so strongly in the Teacher Cadet program that the class has been offered every year even though there are less than twenty students.  The students who elect this class are truly interested in the education of young children and are considering a career in either teaching or a closely related field.  Fairfax County and Mount Vernon High School believe in growing our own teachers.
