Instruction of active reading strategies to students. Implement active reading strategies in all classes.

Active reading strategies are used in the class.  Also active reading strategies are taught so that students can use them in their internship.

Analyze reading, writing and vocabulary strategies used in the classrooms during PLC meetings.

I evaluate the reading, writing and vocabulary strategies used in class.

Provide assistance/remediation after school and during Major Time as needed.

I am available before and after school to assist students.  I also issue Major Time passes; sometimes I initiate the pass and sometimes the student asks.

All teachers will continue to participate in PLC’s and plan lessons that include reading, writing and vocabulary improvement

I strive to adapt lessons and seek new ideas that include reading, writing and vocabulary.

Instruction of writing strategies specific to the content area.

Students write seven essays for their portfolio and daily journals during their internship.

Focus warm-up activities on activating essential prior content knowledge and content specific vocabulary.

Warm-ups include recalling prior Teacher Cadet knowledge and Teacher Cadet vocabulary.

Student Achievement Goal—Essential Life Skills

All teachers and counselors will help students prepare for post high school plans during Major Time.

Teacher Cadet students have assignments related to post high school plans.

Post and model MVHS’s Six Core Values of Character Education

MVHS Core Values of Character Education are posted and reviewed in class.

Student Achievement Goal—Responsibility to the Community

Provide encouragement and outreach to target students who are not involved in sports and clubs.

Students are encouraged to become active in extracurricular activities – especially FEA and FCCLA.

Sponsors and members of clubs and organizations will identify and advertise service opportunities and projects.

FEA and FCCLA have quarterly service projects and additional opportunities to mentor/tutor/or provide child care at nearby schools.

More students will be nominated for Character Education awards.

I nominate one student each month for the Character Education Award.
