Indicator 11b

11b. The program solicits external stakeholders’ feedback for program improvement.

Artifact 81 - describe how feedback from stakeholders is used for program improvement

Feedback is welcome from principals, mentors and parents.  There is formal feedback from the principal/mentor questionnaire at the end of each internship.  There is also ongoing informal feedback from principals, mentors and parents when we meet to include:

  • September at Back-to-School-Night
  • October and January at PTSA meetings
  • November, February and April at Touch Base- short parent conferences
  • November at FEA/ FEA Honor Society Initiation Banquet
  • February at the parent meeting before the National FEA Conference
  • April at the parent meeting before the State FEA Conference
  • May at FEA/FEA Honor Society Award Banquet.

Feedback is evaluated and adjustments are made to the program when needed.  The major adjustments that have been made include:

  • changing the time to course meets to better accommodate the elementary school schedule.  The program once met last period so high school students could end their day at their internship, but too many elementary school classes were eating lunch or going to specials.  Now the class meets from 8:53-10:18.  The elementary school day is just beginning and classes are studying language arts or math.  These are subjects the teachers really appreciate having the extra assistance to meet the needs of all students.
  • allowing the internship journals to be written in a journal book, hand written on paper or written online using Blackboard.
