Why I want to be a teacher

Teachers are expected to be expert communicators who motivate students and direct learning. While many find this to be difficult, I take pleasure in my role as the shaper of young minds. I want to be an educator to have a platform to display my personal creativity and love of knowledge and to equip students with the skills needed for success in an evolving world.

I consider myself to be a person with wide-ranging interest and creative abilities. Teaching is one of the only professions where I can incorporate my love of knowledge and creativity into what I do - which is no easy feat, with syllabus' and teaching methods becoming more standardized day-by-day. As a teacher, I try to incorporate interesting multimedia tools, exercises, and techniques in planning; making teaching a fun-filled activity. Creative projects and lesson plans are the cornerstone of my teaching methods, as they help in developing interest and curiosity among children.

I want to equip our children with the proper educational tools to become successful citizens in a competitive society. It is my belief that EVERY student is capable of learning and that EVERY student has a right to learn. Not all students learn in the same way, and not all students receive the information that is given to them in the same way. As a result of the varied learning styles of my students, I have a variety of styles in teaching. Anything from teaching a student how to read a book, to gaining a student's confidence to present a project in front of the class would be an obstacle worth hurdling if it makes a difference in their lives. Teaching students skills such as organization, socialization, and time management are important to me because those are skills that they will use daily for the rest of their lives, and how effective they are using those skills effects them constantly. I am an advid believer that one person can make a difference, and I want to make mine by ensuring that my students have a good foundation in the skills needed to become productive citizens.
