As more people question the quality of education the typical teen in the United States receives, colleges are noticing an increase in the amount of remediation they are required to provide in order to bring new students to a level commensurate with the curricula the colleges offer.
The NCTE journal looks at this situation in a compelling article titled "High School Teaching for the Twenty-First Century:Preparing Students for College."
This article applies to adults as well as students! Salpointe's school nurse Paula Schoenbrod sent it to the staff, so I'm including the article on my web page. I know I'm not alone when I say people in general seem very sleep deprived.
