Rereading to better comprehend/Answer questions….
1. Present a selected text to students. Use a variety of reading strategies to read a portion of the text.
2. Ask a comprehension question about the text. Ex- “Why” questions, main idea, characterization, conflict, similarities and differences, summarizing, etc.
3. Model revisiting and rereading a portion of the text to gain a better understanding before answering the question. Answer the question using support from the text.
4. Read another portion of the text with students.
5. Ask a comprehension question. Have students reread and locate a piece of the text that can be used to help them answer the question.
6. Have students use the text to write an answer to the question.
7. Read the remainder of the text with students.
8. Ask students a comprehension question and have students independently reread a portion of the text and develop and answer using text support.
Force and Motion (Gravity)-Expressive Writing
