Literary Elements Web Assignment

Context: During the first session of Block II in the summer of 2005 Brandon Shivers, Leslye Drennan, Cortnie Smith, Emily Dagenhardt, Katie Houser, and I created a web-based activity for elementary students concerning the different elements of literature. In the media lab on campus at Appalachian State University we used Macromedia Dreamweaver to create the websites. We created a home page and subsequent pages addressing each of the six literary elements.

Impact: This web-based activity was created for upper elementary school students to explore the various elements of literature after reading Lois Lowry’s Number the Stars. We created a home page and pages for each of the six literary elements. This assignment allows students to interact with and explore the major themes of literature in a technology-enhanced learning environment.
