Today we got to know each other better through playing a creative name-adjective-action game.  We talked about the exciting things we will be working on in our art class this year!  We were introduced to the elements of art; value, space, texture, shape, color, form, and line.  Each student received a portfolio and began decorating the cover using this new terminology.

Black Bat artists reviewed their new art terminology and today we focused on ‘line’.  We opened our eyes to so many different kinds and types of line and had fun drawing squiggly, zig zag, fat, patterned …. lines as we filled in the large bubble letters of our names on our portfolio’s.  Then each student drew a picture using many interesting types of line to render the image.

A new project today! – Black Bat artists are exploring shape as we create colorful picture frames by selecting and placing all sorts of cut out shapes in all colors and sizes to a mat board frame.  We reviewed all we’ve learned about line, and made connections between line and shape.
