Happy Holidays! Black Bat artists explored texture today. Each student covered a cardboard template with cut fabric pieces to create ‘textured trees’. Students designed patterns, chose various color combinations, and embellished the top with a golden star.

Black Bat artists continued to explore the resist process today. We painted more with watercolor paints onto our abstract oil pastel designs, patterns, and color combinations. Full of festive energy, the students drew holiday inspired pictures with oil pastels and painted over these with watercolors as well!

Welcome back to Art!  Today Black Bats explored more with the resist process using oil pastels and watercolor paints.  We talked about abstract art and created our own abstract artworks on large pieces of paper.  The goal was to completely fill the white paper with lines, patterns, designs, color combinations first with oil pastels and then paint over the entire surface with watercolor.  We noticed dramatic color contrasts as we painted light colors over dark pastels and vice versa.  The resist effect offered exciting results as well.
