This week was a busy project week. We had a lot of things that needed to be accomplished. So.... We realized that we needed to write a menu for our healthy lunch with the Los Toros. We wrote our menu first in pencil and then in bright marker. We also illustrated our menu. Real reasons to write!

Author Share is an important closing ritual to our coveted writer's workshop time. This past week we reviewed the best practices to make this a successful time for both presenter and audience.

If you are sharing make sure you:

1. Read in a clear and loud voice.

2. Sit or stand still.

3. Follow your story with your finger while you read.

If you are in the audience:

1. Have a quiet mouth.

2. Open your ears and pay attention.

3. Eyes on the presenter.

4. Share a question, a comment or a compliment.

This week we were eager to get back into our routines of journaling and sharing our stories with our friends. At the beginning of the week, we all had so much to talk about with each other that we decided it would be best to write and share about what we did over our breaks! We had a circle and challenged ourselves to say only ONE word that had a special connection and meaning to us about our spring break.

Some of our responses were: "beach...shark....lion....forest....sunshine....surfing.....dolphins"

Next we brainstormed a series of basic writing prompts to help jumpstart our stories. We cam up with:

" I saw..."

" I tasted...."

"I touched....."

"I heard......"

"I tried....."

Our stories were fantastic, interesting and above all, passionate.
