Student User FAQ

  1. What is Taskstream?

Taskstream is a web-based electronic portfolio, assessment management and standards-based instruction solution. Students are required to upload assignments from each core course in their program of study, and submit that assignment for evaluation. It also allows faculty to evaluate students’ assignment and to create standards-based lesson plans, evaluation rubrics, and entire instructional units.

  1. Why do I have to upload to Taskstream?

Taskstream is used to evaluate student outcome as part of accreditation. Taskstream is used to assist students in the collection, preservation, organization, evaluation, and dissemination of activities, assignments, evidences and reflections that are associated with competencies and standards throughout their teacher education program. It is needed in order to receive accreditation by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

  1. Who needs a Taskstream account?

Every student taking a course with key assessments needs an account. However, all GSEHD students will get a Taskstream account that can be used as a digital repository.

  1. When and where can I purchase Taskstream?

GSHED student site license accounts will be covered through the matriculation fee.

     5. How much memory do I get with Taskstream?  Will that be enough?

Students get 2G with their account subscription on Taskstream. The majority of students have enough space, but if more memory is needed it can be purchased by going to “My Accounts.” Students can also clear up space in their memory by deleting old files from the system. Diana will verify.

  1. Can I re-subscribe to Taskstream?  Will my work be lost?

Once your account expires, contact Taskstream directly to renew your subscription and visit website for updated renewal fees. Your work would still be available.

Uploading Work Inquiries

  1. I have uploaded my work, but my professor can’t see my upload, what can I do?

If you have not submitted your work, your professor will not be able to see it even if it has been uploaded to your account. To submit your uploaded work for evaluation click on the “Submission Work” tab

  1. I have submitted my work, but my professor is unable to view it, what can I do?

If you have submitted your work using a newer version of MS Word then your professor will probably be unable to view it. Once the professor has released your work you will be able to delete the old file out of Taskstream and resave your work on your own computer in MS Word. The new file must be Saved-As in the Microsoft Word 97 format.

  1. Can I edit my uploaded work?

Work can be edited at any time as long as it has not been submitted to an instructor for evaluation. You can delete and edit your work in the “add/edit” window. If your work has already been submitted to an instructor, you will need to contact your instructor and have them release your work for revision.

  1. What about scanning an image?

Images can be scanned onto Taskstream as long as they do not exceed your memory capacity on your account. Images should be kept as small as possible to avoid filling your memory to capacity. Photos and images are uploaded under the “image” tab of the “add/edit” window.

  1. What should I do with huge files?

Huge files can be zipped before upload. PowerPoint files can be kept somewhat smaller by using Save-As option rather than Save. Images can be saved in Taskstream as small, medium, or large files when uploaded under the “image” tab in the “add/edit” window.

  1. Where does my uploaded work go?

Your Taskstream files are housed in the database associated with your account. When a document is submitted to an instructor for evaluation it creates a copy of an uploaded file that is housed in the TS database.

The TS staff, faculty and administrators DO NOT have access to your account or portfolio, unless you actively share your work with them.
