School Counseling Department philosophy

The comprehensive guidance program mission is that every student should have proper resources and supports to achieve academically, in their careers, and in their social and personal relationships. We understand that students have differences including culture, race, sex, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and special needs. Every person should have equal access to the comprehensive guidance program and their resources. The comprehensive guidance program understands that student achievement can be measured and the program will be help accountable for the school’s performance and will assess improvements when necessary.  When appropriate, students will also have access to community resources and referrals.

The counselors at Center High School abide by the professional counseling ethics as advanced by the American School Counseling Association. The counselors will also participate in professional development activities that  maintain the quality of the school counseling program.
