Homework assignment DUE Thursday, December 9, 2010 (assigned Monday, December 6, 2010):  Students are to write a letter as if they were living in Vicksburg during the 47 day siege by the Union army.  We read from several sources about Vicksburg.  Students may come and check out reading materials from me.

Your assignment is to write a letter to a family member or friend living in a Southern city.  Include the following:

• Describe the conditions in Vicksburg
• Describe the problems (examples could be: living conditions, food and water situations, the Union army efforts, the location of Vicksburg)
• Describe home life
• Describe your feelings (as if you were living in Vicksburg at the time)

You may type your letter and then tape it into your SSNB or you may write it in your SSNB.  Remember it is to be neat/clean and show effort and time. Include the six traits of writing.  This means It should be free of spelling errors, it should have proper grammar, including capitalization and indentations.
