Faces of the Civil War

This is a first person point of view on the Civil War. Students research a Civil War topic/event

Handouts and explanations were given to students in the Library on Monday, October 11, 2010. We spent 4 days in the Library. The first day in the Library was introducing the project. All students should have explanations and clarifications written on their handout. Three days in the Library were for the purpose of researching their specific topics about the Civil War.

Students chose a topic about the Civil War.  They are researching  information about their topic.  Their character would be based on information about an event or topic on the Civil War.  The assignment is for students to create an art form from the perspective of their character and to perform for other students and teachers. As stated in the handout the art forms may be literary, visual, musical or theatrical.

Students are to have their completed notes, work cited sheet printed out from Bibme.com, and their art form due on Monday, November 1.  If students come on Monday without these three items they will not be in the performance; rather, they will spend the week during class completing their notes, making a work cited sheet from Bibme.com, and will turn in a minimum of a 5 paragraph essay due November 8 (the day the performances begin).  These students will lose all performance and participation credit.
