Dialogue Between a Loyalist and a Patriot-Due Friday, October 1, 2010

Cumulative activity demonstrating knowledge of key ideas for both sides

Write a dialogue between a Loyalist and a Patiot on whether the colonies should declare independence from Britain. Your dialogue must:

  • Begin with these three lines:
    • Loyalist: I can't understand why you want the colonies to break away from the British Empire.  It's just not a smart idea.
    • Patriot: Not a smart idea? I'll tell you why it's a smart idea.
    • Loyalist: Okay, but you need to hear my side of it, too.....
  • Contain at least three key reasons why Patriots support independence.
  • Contain at least three key reasons why Loyalists oppose independence
  • Use language that reflects the passionate feelings held by Loyalists and Patriots on the topic of independence.
  • 2 pages long
  • Be free of spelling and grammatical errors
  • Due Friday, October 1, 2010
