| | Content: This Culture Report and Case Study was created for CI3000, Learner Diversity, Spring 2007. It was made under the advisement of this course's instructor, Nancy Mamlin. Impact: This culture report includes a variety of assignments that can help teachers meet the needs of all students. The Hmong population is growing within the school system. I believe that it is important that all teachers are willing to learn about such a culture. This report helps teachers better understand their students by giving them information on Hmong research, statistics, common stereotypes, classroom practices, accomplished people, and children's literature. This report also contains a resource bank that the students can use. Teachers will ultimately connect with students when they show interest about learning about their student's cultural background. Attached is also a case study that I completed throughout my internship at Moravian Falls Elementary. The case study includes interviews, observations, samples of student's work, and a report concerning a certain student. This case study can be used to help me better connect to the diverse learners that I will have in my classroom. Alignment: Please see the attachment for a list of standards that I have met by completing a cultural report and case study. | | |
