This artifact was created during my student teaching under the advisement of my second grade cooperating teacher, Jeanie Ward, in the Spring of 2008.

Impact:

With this artifact students will be able to better understand the relationship between a cup, pint, quart, and gallon. In addition, after using this artifact, students are able to fill in a measurement chart with the information they have gained.

Alignment:

This artifact helped me to meet the following NC Standards for Elementary Teachers and NETS-T Technology Standards:

Standard 2: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in math.

Indicator 1 - Teachers have knowledge of number sense, numeration, and numerical operation.

    -- This artifact proves that I have knowledge of number sense, numeration, and numerical operation as I have taught these essential skills. For example, this artifact helps me teach students how many cups a container can hold. This ultimately makes my students strengthen their addition skills.

Indicator 2 - Teachers have knowledge of geometry and measurement.

    -- This artifact proves that I have knowledge of geometry and measurement. I teach students how to measure the amount a container holds by using a Capacity Butterfly.

Standard I: Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.

Indicator B - Teachers demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abeats of current and emerging technology.

    -- This artifact proves that I have demonstrated continual growth in technology knowledge and skills. When teaching my class about a capacity butterfly, I used an overhead projector.
