The Lee County Head Start Program recognizes the vital importance of parent involvement in the success of students. It is our desire to engage families in their children's education. Parents are every child's first teacher. The good news is you don't need an advanced degree to help your child succeed at school. It's the little things that make a big difference; reading at home, talking with your child about school, and setting high expectatons.

WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME:

Provide quiet space at home for learning activities

Limit TV watching and video game

Read outloud to your children

Talk to your child about the importance of learning

Talk to your child about college and careers

Read notes, announcements, and newsletters from your school

WHAT YOU CAN DO IN THE CLASSROOM:

Talk with your child's teacher

Visit and see what the teaching staff and the children are doing

Help with learning activities and have input on your childs lesson plans

Attend parent-teacher conferences

Attend center and program events (Parent Meetings, Family Fun Day, Celebrations, Countywide Parent Day)

Communicate with teachers about questions or concerns
