Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.

Reflection

In completing EDUC 3311 Instructional Technology course at ISU, the WebQuest with embedded Virtual Field Trip, and the Online Teacher Tools Group Project, I have met ISTE-T 5.a Participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning. Completion of EDUC 3311, I gained some effective strategies for using technology in the classroom. In my WebQuest I designed, I provided a Virtual Field Trip through the Anne Frank House, located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In preparation of the Group Project, I participated in a local learning community to explore technology. 

In completing the Online Teacher Tools Group Project and the Assistive Technology Case Study, I have met ISTE-T 5.b Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others. In collaboration with team members in the Group Project, I contributed to the skills of others by sharing of my research findings on the technology I explored. In presenting the Assistive Technology to the class, I shared my research on the technology I learned. 

In completing the Online Teacher Tools Group Project and the Technology Philosophy Statement, I have met ISTE-T 5.c Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning. In research for the Group Project, I evaluated and reflected on current research to make use of an online tool for a teacher in the classroom. The Technology Philosophy Statement I created, gave me opportunity to evaluate and reflect on research to make effective use of technology in my future classroom.

In completing the Online Teacher Tools Group Project, I have met ISTE-T 5.d Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community. In presentation of the Group Project, I contributed to the technological knowledge of my fellow teacher candidates.

  • WebQuest with embedded Virtual Field Trip: I have chosen to attach my WebQuest in support of ISTE-T Standard 5 because it provides my ability to connect students to places virtually around their world, expanding their cultural understanding and global awareness.
  • Online Teacher Tools Group Project: I have chosen to attach my Group Project in support of ISTE-T Standard 5 because it provides my ability to participate in a local community to explore technology.
  • Assistive Technology Case Study: I have chosen to attach my Assistive Technology Case Study in support of ISTE-T Standard 5 because it provides my ability to share technology with my peers.
  • Technology Philosophy Statement: I have chosen to attach my TPS in support of ISTE-T Standard 5 because it provides my ability to evaluate and reflect on research so that I may place effective technology tools in my classroom.
