Rationale for Assessment Products Assignment

Context:

In Dr. Robin Groce's Development for Literacy of Learning class (RE 3030) during Block II,  I conducted a Reading Assessment. This was done with one Second grade student during my internship at Mountain View Elementary School. During this assessment I used the Word Recognition Isolation (WRI) and the Word Recognition in Context (WRC) to assess this student’s reading, fluency, and comprehension level.

Impact:

I will use the WRI and WRC assessments to determine my student’s levels of reading, fluency, and comprehension. I will use this to identify where my students are having complications. This assessment will help me better understand what level my students are on at a given time and what materials I should use to best improve their reading skills.

Alignment:

I have met NCDPI Standard 1, Indicators 1, 5, 6, and 7 by determining the different levels of WRI and WRC assessment. By completing this assessment, I will be able to determine what level of reading, fluency, and comprehension my students are on at a given time.

I have met NCDPI Standard 7, Indicators 6 and 7 by determining what strategies will improve my students reading ability according to the level they are on. I have also met this standard by learning how to modify my teaching strategies for all learners.
