Six Point Lesson Plan

Context: This lesson plan was created for my HED 3645 under the advisement of Dr. Terri Mitchell. This lesson plan was designed to make children aware of unsafe needles and syringes and other drugs. It is also aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Healthful Living.

Impact: This lesson was make younger children aware of unsafe situations regarding drugs and other materials such as open containers and syringes. Using different methods of assessment such as role playing and discussion students were able to gain a broader understanding of what looks safe and how to react to unsafe or unstable situations.

Alignment:

NCDPI Standard 5 indicator 1 by using the NC Standard Course of Study to outline a successful and meaningful lesson plan based on the students best interest towards leading a healthy lifestyle.

NCDPI Standard 5 indicator 2 by making students aware of serious and dangerous issues relating to their overall health.

NCDPI Standard 13: I met this standard by working with my health education professor to create a lesson plan that would both make children aware of health issues and  become healthy citizens.
