Process Skills Center

science center main page.jpg

Context: This project was completed for my GS 4401 class under the instruction of Dr. Jeff Goodman in the fall of 2007. The technology used for this project was Microsoft Word.

Impact: Students were able to use this science center as a means to compare objects that were rough and objects that were smooth. They used classification skills to complete center and examined properties of smooth and rough objects. Students were able to use a hands on experience which allowed them to use their senses to determine which property the objects belonged to.

Alignment:

I met Standard 10 by creating a center where students use different process skills including classifying and interpreting information. I also made this center to be used as a hands on experience to determine information.

NC- North Carolina DPI Elementary Education Specialty Area Standards
Standard: Standard 10: Teachers provide active inquiry experiences in the teaching of science by using various questioning skills and developing science processing skills (predicting, classifying, measuring, inferring, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing).
